Melanie is a Chartered (or state registered (SRP)) physiotherapist . This is a public guarantee of a high level of academic training, and qualification to practice. Melanie initially graduated with a 3 year BSc(Hons) degree in physiotherapy, then worked with human patients. She subsequently completed a 2 year post graduate diploma in veterinary physiotherapy at the Royal Veterinary College. She is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy (ACPAT).

Membership of these societies provides insurance, and requires that members stay up to date with the latest research. Melanie works with Jenny Hadland and Company treating horses and became an associate in 2007. She also treats human athletes from various sports at a Sports Injuries and Physiotherapy Clinic in Epsom. Melanie has ridden since the age of six. In the past she competed successfully in show jumping, and worked in various eventing and hunting yards when she was training to be a physiotherapist. She now has two horses she rides for pleasure when time allows.
